Hello and welcome to EMC,

Cognitive Services

My goal is to help people function in a way that makes them proud. I aim for a "no shame in your game" attitude to foster confidence and ultimately success in your daily functioning.

The experience I have with formal education, training, employment as a clinical neuropsychologist, and health educator, coupled with skills, tools and interventions, will allow me to help you highlight your best self.

I began my clinical neuropsychology career fairly early in my life and enjoyed a range of professional opportunities, experiences and interactions. At this stage in my private practice career I have refined my focus to areas that bring me joy, that I am excited about, and can provide the most impact: cognitive treatment. I provide tools, skills and interventions for individuals seeking help examining psychological concerns inherent in cognitive impairment such as low self-esteem, emotion regulation, addiction or interpersonal challenges.

I have an educational background in Clinical Psychology; I earned a BA degree from San Diego State University (1996), Master's (1998) and Doctoral (2000) degrees from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. My residency and specialized training in neuropsychology were conducted in San Francisco, and benefitted from meeting the needs of the diverse population in the Bay Area. Following my educational experiences I began working at a large metropolitan medical center providing psychological services, specifically neuropsychological assessments for individuals struggling with their cognitive functioning. I also taught at the graduate and doctoral levels, as well as supervised residents and trained licensed mental health clinicians in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, capacity evaluations and various neuropsychological topics for 25 years (1998 to 2023). My understanding and teaching of neuroanatomy allows my approach to be informed by the brain bases of behavior. Click here to explore my speaking engagement history.

Cognitive services without the previous hassles

After teaching adult ADHD health education courses and providing lectures to mental health clinicians regarding cognitive dysfunction for over two decades, the pandemic brought about change in the delivery of health services. Now, I am able to provide cognitive treatment via telehealth, which has truly been a game changer for me and the populations I am skilled at working with.

On a personal note…

I stay healthy by maintaining an active lifestyle enjoying the outdoors with my spunky and courageous German Shepherd. I value life balance, and foster this by spending quality time with my family and friends over meals, music, creative endeavors and stimulating activities. I also really enjoy organizing living spaces, up-cycling vintage furniture, gardening, donating things I don't use or need, ceramic sculpting, and reading magazines outside, while enjoying whatever the Bay Area weather has to offer.
